November 14, 2009- Another great contest went down this weekend at Fiftytwo, brought to you by our friends at Edge of the World, Bacon skateboards, Vox Footwear, Tribute Skateboards, Type S Wheels, and Fury trucks.
Some great skating went down and we'll post all the results here as soon as possible!
Wow, what a rad time! The great girls of the non-profit organization "Skate Like A Girl" out of Portland, Oregon stopped through for a night of all girl's skating, and for those who missed it, it was a super positive ripping session with tons of sick skating by the ladies!
Local rippers Kim Petersen, Jayme Erickson and Rayla Marema were having a blast with the visiting pros and ams, and even little Kaitlyn Hughes got in on the act, impressing a lot of the ladies with her moves on the newly constructed mini ramp. The local news stations came out and went live with the bowl session, and the girls made a night out of it, camping all over the park.
Skate Like A Girl is a non-profit organization dedicated to spreading the fun of girls skateboarding through clinics, demos and contests with a definitive aim at the young girls out there standing on the sidelines just waiting to get into the game. Fiftytwo is proud to support their mission, and we'll be bringing them through again as soon as we can!
Thanks to the rain out of their event at Mobash this year, Edge of the World moved their Go Skateboarding Day celebration to the covered world of Fiftytwo. We made it a dollar day for everyone, and lots of kids turned out for the Edge of the World extravaganza! Bacon and his crew put on another great event as always! Always a crowd pleaser, Chris made sure no child was left behind from the mad prizes and giveaways! Go skate day is everyday for lots of the Missoula locals, but it ain't every day you can get gear from Deathwish, Supra, and so much more for doin' what you do!
The event went off without a hitch, and we're glad everyone had a good time! Woo!
Rick Thorne and the Good Guys in Black entertained an awesome crowd of over 100 bikers, skaters and fans at Fiftytwo skatepark, giving away tons of great product from Boost Mobile, Monster Energy and Famous Stars and Straps!
With some of the best skating Montana's seen in a long time, Billy Moyle walked away with a brand new mobile phone from Boost, and a whole boatload of new shirts and swag. As always, Billy killed it and lit the park up!
In the 12 and under division, Rayla Marema laid down some smokin' lines throughout the park, edging out Austin Miles for the win. Both of the kids deserve a hand, they worked hard and had the smiles to prove it. Congrats To Fiftytwo Girl's team member Rayla for her first win in her first contest ever!
On the BMX side of things, some great riding went down and everyone had a good time. I don't know any of the tricks or names of the riders, so I gotta apologize for that one. Whoever won, great job awesome show. YAY!
THANKS to Rick and the boys for bringing this one of a kind event to Fiftytwo, and be sure to check out his EXPN pod cast on itunes and look for the contest coming up on Fuel TV's coverage of the tour later this summer!
The third and final Hometown Heroes contest went down Saturday Mach 28th at Fiftytwo Skatepark, and the results were so close, we wish there was a fourth contest! The top five of the overall results all put in amazing runs over the three contests, and the level of excitement and effort grew with every contest. What a great show the kids put on this time, and we can't wait for next year's Hometown Heroes already!
Some of the highlights this week were Nick Moran's huge ollie from the euro gap to flat over the bank, followed up by big brother Greg's in his next run, Casey Wood throwing some of the cleanest tech combinations we've seen and great skating by all the participants.
